About Us
The ChyTV Group
Chyron, the company whose brand name has been synonymous with broadcast
television graphics, has been an industry leader in video processing
technology for nearly 40 years. Now, with the introduction of ChyTV,
Chyron has unveiled a fresh new direction in the world of digital
display systems. By leveraging the technology from our professional
broadcast graphics equipment, ChyTV provides powerful, yet cost effective
and flexible graphics and messaging solutions to any location that
has a television - without disrupting the video source.
Chyron - The Company the Whole World Watches
Our primary business is creating and selling television graphics equipment.
Within the television industry, our company name, Chyron, has become
a synonym for a television graphic (ala Kleenex or Tivo). In television
production, "Give me the Chyron." means give me the graphic. Chyron's
graphics products are used by most broadcasters in the US and many
around the world including ABC, FOX, CBS, ESPN, CNN, CBC, and the
BBC to display such information as sports scores, logos, news flashes,
weather flashes, election results and stock market quotes. Chyron
graphics products specialize in the real time arena and make up over
70% of the installed base of such tools for live broadcast in the
U.S.
We have nearly 40 years experience in television graphics equipment,
an industry we invented and made practical. We develop, manufacture,
market and support hardware and software products that enhance the
production values of live and pre-recorded video, audio and other
data. This year we were presented with an Emmy award "for the invention
and development of the character generator." The prestigious Philo
T. Farnsworth Corporate Achievement Emmy Award is given to "an individual,
company or an organization for developments in engineering that are
either so extensive an improvement on existing methods or so innovative
in nature that they materially affect the transmission, recording
or reception of television."
In the past, our products have typically been expensive, high-end
top-quality systems with a great deal of proprietary hardware. However,
recent advances in technology have made powerful board-level graphics
systems and flat panel displays more affordable. We're currently developing
a line of video informational display systems with a price point and
ease of use suitable for mainstream applications. These devices sit
between an existing video monitor or television and an incoming video
source. Our initial offering is called ChyTV.
The ChyTV device enables you to 'squeeze' the live video region and
display custom graphics around the perimeter of the video region.
These graphics can be created using well-known user-friendly interfaces
such as Microsoft PowerPoint and Adobe PhotoShop. ChyTV enables locations
such as malls, stores, government buildings, campuses, churches, restaurants,
corporate lobbies, doctors, dentists, trade shows etc. to display
locally relevant information such as price specials, service announcements,
advertising, etc., all without disrupting the incoming video signal.
For instance, an auto repair waiting area would be able to 'squeeze'
the television video while simultaneously "crawling" oil-change specials
across the bottom of the screen. Or the television in a corporate
cafeteria can be showing entertainment programming while displaying
employee birthdays, meeting announcements, or the picnic date. Our
company has the unique ability to leverage our high-end video animation
technologies into a powerful but affordable informational display
system. It can be immediately put into use anywhere there's a video
monitor. We expect the burgeoning "Digital Signage" market to quickly
gain momentum, and for public video displays to proliferate as the
costs of plasma and lcd displays continue to drop. We think this is
truly a unique product with a very wide base of potential interest
that hasn't been possible to develop until recently.
The ChyTV device itself is a small self-contained box similar in size
to a television set-top box. No PC needs to be connected, although
it can be for live, dynamic data insertion. The graphics, text, and
display schedule are all created using simple, mainstream tools on
a PC, and are transferred to the device via compact flash, USB, or
Ethernet. |
